July 8, 2022: Mixed Box is a compilation of tracks curated by The Doll that were created from the DollyDollar Sample Pack by artists from Aotearoa NZ, UK, Netherlands, Canada, and the USA.
The DollyDollar Sample Pack was assembled for Grimalkin Records from The Doll's large stash of nofi field recordings made on a Nokia brick, xp craptop, cheap smartphones, & Zoom recorders from 2005– 2021. The selected recordings were made in South Korea, Aotearoa NZ, Portugal, Madrid, Italy, Cymru, England, Romania, Bulgaria, India, and the USA.
Inspired in part by Loop Sessions DMV, Grimalkin will be doing a series of sample pack based releases from various Grimalkin artists. Some of these opportunities will follow educational workshops from our Grim Works programming. We have various beatmakers and other artists who use samples and field recordings so we thought it would be fun and inspiring to share our skills and encourage folks to make tracks using various sample packs and then submit it to us for special digital releases on our Bandcamp.
This is the very first one by noise and performance artist The Doll. More sample packs will follow from other Grimalkin artists on an ongoing basis from time to time so stay tuned!
